Graduate / Junior Back End Web Developer
Posted: April 06, 2018
Electric Putty is dedicated to helping train the next generation of web professionals and actively recruit junior positions. Over the past few years we’ve watched a number of talented and committed people grow into highly skilled developers and some of today’s core team joined us with little or no commercial experience.
About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a graduate / junior back end web developer.
This is a fantastic opportunity to get a foot in the door in this exciting industry and learn from experienced and talented professionals.
We have well defined production processes and coding standards so you’ll be getting into good habits from the outset. That said, these are always evolving and we welcome everyone’s input, so if you’ve got good ideas we want to hear them.
We don’t believe in giving the newbie all the boring jobs so you’ll get up close and personal with production code from day one. You will be working with PHP and will become familiar with the best frameworks out there like Laravel and Yii.
Whilst this is a junior position it is not suitable for an absolute beginner. We are looking for someone with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of programming (variables, conditional, loops, etc.).
You are naturally inquisitive. You were the kid who took things apart to see how they worked. Solving problems is at the heart of everything you do and you view every obstacle as an exciting challenge just waiting for an elegant solution.
You’re looking for a career that will never get boring in industry which is constantly evolving.
Whilst commercial web development experience or degree level education aren’t essential either will be a bonus. What we have to see is a genuine passion for technology and a thirst for learning.
We do need to see example of your work so please send us links to personal projects, websites for friends / family, your GitHub account or something commercial you’ve been involved in. Please provide details on your involvement in each.
